jumpstart Solaris 10 on Solaris 9 server

I just built a jumpstart server on a Solaris 9 sun box and have had no problems jumpstarting other sol9 boxes using the custom rules. I've also copied a Solaris 10 image onto that same solaris 9 server and have had problems loading Solaris 10. These boxes will go directly to the manual OS install and never check/find a rules.ok file.

Do I need a Solaris 10 jumpstart server to be serving out Solaris 10?

Here is whats happening on the console:
Code:
Rebooting with command: boot net - install
Boot device: /pci@1f,700000/network@2 File and args: - install

You can have Solaris 8,9,10 images on a jumpstart server with Sol8, 9, 10 and be able to jump boxes.
It looks like the jumpstart can't find your sysidcfg file, or sysidcfg is not complete. Check the contents of the file and make sure that all variables are defined, and check the location of the file and see if it matches /etc/bootparams

I'm working w/ sun support on this issue but still gaining no progress. The bootparams is fine. Replacing the boot image from 10 to 9 works without a hitch, even sees the rules.ok. But for some strange reason Solaris 10 08/07 will not see the rules.ok file. Is there something different about Solaris 10 08/07 that I don't know about? I downloaded a free copy off of Sun's site.

yep... you need to define an NFS4 domain in sysidcfg.

Code:
nfs4_domain=dynamic

Do you have this entry in your sysidcfg?

When you get prompted for language, termninal, it means sysidcfg has some issue. rules.ok don't come until later.

Yep, that's what changed, that could be all there is to it. System Shock is also corect that the rules comes later, after system identification is complete.

If this doesn't help run through the interactive install and see other then the language, what questions get asked?

Note any question that does not already have a default answer which matches what you expect the automatic jumpstart to set it to, and that will tell you what is missing from sysidcfg.

Thanks. It's working now.
