Not quite what I meant. If you use sendmail to send outgoing mail (ie /usr/lib/sendmail <destination address>), I found that it still used the local spooler - ie the mail didn't get delivered.

/usr/lib/mail/cf/<whatever>.mc

These mc files are what's used to configure sendmail. If this is an 'average' server that doesn't handle mail for any other servers (your one sounds like this), I would suggest using 'sendmail.mc' as it tends to be a pretty good config for most jobs.

Add that localhost line before the 'MAILER' lines and after the 'define' line (the order is important but I have no idea which lines have to go where - I just found that this worked for me Smilie )

Take a backup copy of /etc/mail/sendmail.cf (in case this doesn't work)

Then run 'make', and copy the newly compiled sendmail.cf over to /etc/mail.

Restart sendmail and try connecting to it via localhost (should work) and then the main network interface (should not work).
