Hello guys,
I'm having a problem at configuring an HP printer for solaris 2.5.1. Unfortunatly solaris did not support network printing until 2.6.x so i had to use jetadmin, wich suprisingly worked well the verry first time i installed the package.
Allthough the sparcstation witch i'm using is pretty old ('96), this version of jetadmin was even older ('93). So no wonder my network printer wasn't supported and as a result i could only print text files.
I decided to upgrade, and after removing the old version i installed the last available version from
HP United States - Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers & more. wich dates from '00. All of this went smoothly using the pdf reamde supplied with jetadmin and again i was able to install the printer fairly easy.
But when i tried to add the printer to the spooler i was amazed to find that the driverlist still wasn't up to date. I found a history of HP printers and could see that my printer has had several different names in the past, but none of them was in the list given by jetadmin.
The new version gives me an extra feature so i can download an updated drivers list, but unfortunatly i need to enter a proxy-name. I used the proxy used by my company and typed: "tsnlisa", just as in my iexplorer6. It didnt work so now im stuck with a verry outdated driver list, and i'm unable to plot graphics from my printer.
Since the new printercontract, im not allowed to go back to my old printer and now im stuck wit my hp 4005n wich i'm unable to confige in jetadmin.
Can anybody tell me how to update the drivers, or give me another solution?
Kind regards
