Why in.mpathd errors - performance possibly?

Hello all,
Run a search but see no previous queries. Trying to get to the bottom of why a server running Solaris 9 reports the following every other day:

lonpcbcfp1:Jun 20 16:33:20 lonpcbcfp1 in.mpathd[55]: [ID 327637 daemon.info] missed sending 17 probes cur_time 1478014085 snxt_time 1478015026 snxt_basetime 1478014018

I'm suspecting that these messages arise due to some performance bottleneck on the system that prevents mpathd being able to send probes. Thing is, checking sar stats for 10 minute intervals around these times doesn't indicate an obvious memory, io or cpu bottleneck. Do these messages indicate a performance issue could still exist or is there another more likely cause?

Thanks!
