Question Emailing about password expiry for a user

How to create a mechanism that e-mails user/admin before password expiry. Assume 7 days in advance.

Thanks in advance for your great help.

You can write a shell script that is executed by cron that reads the passwd file, does some pattern matching based on time, and sends the user an email if certain conditions are met.

What have you written so far? Using Neo's pointers you should be able to script something up. If you have specific scripting queries, we'll be happy to assist you further. We do not provide a free script writing service.

EDIT: Also; please search the forums before posting. If you'd done so, you'd have found this.

Cheers,
