Dual IP configuration with two different network card

I am trying to configure dual IP each on different interfaces (ce0, ce2) with one logical/virtual IP. I can ping all three IP but can not TELNET to any of them. Here is all the information:
*********************************************************
root@osssvr # more /etc/hosts
#
# Internet host table
#
127.0.0.1 localhost
172.31.240.20 osssvr loghost osssvr.net
172.31.240.18 osssvr-1
172.31.240.19 osssvr-2
172.31.240.16 osssvr-sc0
172.31.240.15 osssvr-sc1
172.31.240.14 osssvr-sc
172.31.240.13 SE6130
172.31.240.12 SE6130
172.31.240.17 ossconsole
root@osssvr # more /etc/netmasks
#
# The netmasks file associates Internet Protocol (IP) address
# masks with IP network numbers.
#
# network-number netmask
#
# The term network-number refers to a number obtained from the Internet Network
# Information Center. Currently this number is restricted to being a class
# A, B, or C network number. In the future we should be able to support
# arbitrary network numbers per the Classless Internet Domain Routing
# guidelines.
#
# Both the network-number and the netmasks are specified in
# "decimal dot" notation, e.g:
#
# 128.32.0.0 255.255.255.0
#
172.31.240.0 255.255.255.192
root@osssvr # more /etc/hostname.ce0
osssvr group omc up
addif 172.31.240.18 netmask 255.255.255.192 broadcast 172.31.240.63 -failover de
precated up
root@osssvr # more /etc/hostname.ce2
172.31.240.19 netmask 255.255.255.192 group omc broadcast 172.31.240.63 -failove

root@osssvr # more /etc/nodename
osssvr
root@osssvr # more /etc/defaultrouter

On rebooting OS, I get messages like:
1. configuring IPv4 interfaces: ce0Jul 9 21:00:38 in.mpathd[34]: Failures cannot be detected on ce2 as no IFF_NOFAILOVER address is available

2. osssvr console login: Jul 9 21:01:27 osssvr in.mpathd[34]: All Interfaces in group omc have failed

hi,

can you telnet the default loghost?
if you cant - then you must either install, configure, power it on, and allow your client.

HTH.

IPMP groups are based on ICMP-targets to test the network connection. if you haven't specified any target with host-routes, the mpathd will try to ping the defaultrouter. if you cannot ping your gateway or haven't set one the interfaces in the group will fail...
