Tape Drive Configuration - Help Needed

I have been working on this one for a few days. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hardware
Machine: Sun Blade 2000
Tape Drives: HP Ultrium LTO2 002 (x2) (Inside an L40)

Software
OS: Solaris 8

st.conf uncommented lines:
Quote:
tape-config-list=
"HP Ultrium 2","HP Ultrium LTO 2","HP_LTO_GEN_2";
HP_LTO_GEN_2 = 1,0x36,0,0xd639,4,0x00,0x00,0x00,0x42,3;
probe-scsi-all reports both drives.
/dev/rmt is empty.

I suspect that the drives are being recognized by the hardware, however, our configuration is not correct. Are we missing anything obvious? If the drives are configured correctly, should /dev/rmt have something in it?

Again, any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sean

Do you need to

Code:
touch /reconfigure
shutdown -y -g0 -i6

?

No he doesn't, a "devfsadm" would be sufficient to do that.
