loading man pages

Hi,
I am using solaris. I have to load the some man pages on different node from solaris. I have no basic idea regarding this. can anyone plz give me some basic ideas so that i can proceed.

Hi,

I am assuming that you do not have man pages installed on your system. If that is the case you might need to install the SUNWman package.
Or else if you have the man pages installed but they are not searchable probably you might need to run the catman command so that it updates the windex database.

hi,
Thanks for your quick reply. But the problem is that i have to load the man pages on different node which is of ericsson. the os which i am using is solaris.so, i want to know the basic concept to proceed for this.

Which OS is the "ericcson" server running?
check by uname -a command.
If Solaris
1. Ensure that SUNWman package is installed.
#pkginfo |grep SUNWman
If it is not installed obtain and add the package
#pkgadd -d SUNWman

2. If package is installed check that the path is correct.

3. Also you may build the windex database by the catman command.

man pages issue

hi all i have installed veritas storage foundation 5.1 in my sun blade 150 which running with sun solaris 5.10. Veritas commands manual pages are located in /opt/VRTS/man/man1m directory. But if i give "man vxassist" It says "no manual entry for vxassist". How to resolve this? (2 Replies)
