stop wtmpx logging

Hello

One of our applications initiates an ftp logon to itself twice every second ...(to check some files or something im not sure) but every time it does this it logs an entry into the wtmpx database, this file is now getting absolutely huge and whilst I know that I could implement some type of log switching for this, id rather stop it from happening completely and stop ftp logging to this database at all !

Is there anyway within the OS that I can control what wtmpx can log ????

Any help on this would be great

Cheers

I believe that there's a program called /bin/mvwtmpx which you can use to rename the wtmpx file and a new (empty) one will be created in its place.
Then you can delete the old one (using /bin/rm). Also, there's a large discussion here, so you might wanna check other opinions as well.
