ChassisSerialNumber in nvramrc

Hi,
can anybody explain to me this line that reads ." ChassisSerialNumber ####AN#### " cr
and appears in my nvramrc and what is its effect on the system

nvramrc content:
nvramrc=devalias net /pci@9,700000/network@2
." ChassisSerialNumber ####AN#### " cr

how can put it back there because it is gone after I created an alias for my mirror disk using eeprom.

Thanks in advance

this looks like an entry made with "sneep". look at /opt/SUNWsneep/ for the tool and read the userguide und ./Docs

Agreed, it looks like a sneep entry.

This has no functional value, it is a method used to store the system serial number so that it can be retrieved without having to physically examine the machine. If the OS has been reinstalled since the entry was created, you may not have the files referred to by DN2 installed on the system.
