Lightbulb installing Solaris 10 with jumpstart from multiple dvds

Hi everybody,

I am trying to clone Solaris 10 with applications to another server.
The total amount of data of jumpstart image is larger than a single dvd disk.
Any ideas if it is possible to split image to several dvds and then use them to install cloned os on another server?
I want to avoid nfs shares and other network or harddisk techniques.

regards,

Jarek

The answer is "not directly".

The problem is that it is not possible to eject a DVD while booted from it, that is assuming that you are both booting and installing from DVD. Is this the case, or are you booting from the network and installing from DVD? I really don't want to do all the typing required to cover all scenarios, so if you could elaborate a little on what you are doing it would help.

installing Solaris 10 with jumpstart from multiple dvds

Hi Reborg,

Thank you for your answer.
Well, The goal is to automate the installation process as much as possible.
I want to avoid any steps that makes the installation time consuming, or growing in complexity, the configuration process included.

I mean that any admin should be able just boot from the dvd and answer to the most basic configuration questions and thats all.

So, I am trying to automate the process as much as possible avoiding, if possible any pre installation configurations and so on.

I still hope that it is possible Smilie

best regards,

Jarek
