Still no luck with the driver from the link that was posted.
In the first couple of paragraphs in the Solaris_X86_ReadMe.txt file, it says: For Fibre Channel and Solaris 10, please use the itmptfc driver package. Where can I find that itmptfc driver package? When I download the SAS_Solaris_8-9_x86.zip file and extract it I get a itmpt_5_07_04_i386.tar.Z file. But as you can see from above, if using Solaris 10, I should being using a itmptfc driver package.Smilie

Do you have FCAL drives? If not then you have already downladed the correct drivers. The and is like a logical AND.

If using Solaris 10 AND FCAL...download other driver.

Installed Solaris 10 8-07 on Dell Power Edge 2950 successfully!

I called the Dell customer service folks and they emailed me the link to the correct driver and it worked!
Driver: MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP
OS: Solaris 10 8-07 x86 version
Platform: Dell Power Edge 2950 (6 x SAS 146 GB 10K drives)
Link to driver: MegaRAID SAS 8888ELP : MegaRAID SAS/SATA Feature Line : MegaRAID SAS/SATA : Internal RAID : Products : Storage : LSI

I downloaded the file HWR_SAS_Driver_SOLARIS_1.17.zip and unzipped it using WinRAR to get a file called components.tgz. Unzipped that file and got the file mega_sas.iso. I then used Nero to burn the image to disk.

Booted from the Solaris 10 DVD again and when I got to options 1-6: I chose option 5, update drivers. Chose c for cdrom/dvdrom, inserted the dvd and hit enter. After I hit enter I got the message:
CD in /dev/dsk/c2t0d0p0 does not contain driver updates
extracting software in /dev/dsk/c3t0d0p0
installing driver update in the miniroot
Insert media and enter media type:
Floppy [f], CD/DVD [c] or End [e]

At that point I entered e for end and then put back in the Solaris DVD and hit enter. It went back to the Solaris config screen after that and then followed the steps as usual. I didn't get that error from before: No Hard Disks found. Smilie

Solaris on x86 - Solaris 10 on Dell PowerEdge 2950

Paraphrasing from the thread
Install the LSI driver and start the Solaris installation. After the first CD the server reboots.

In grub prompt edit and add the following, "kernel/unix" to boot in 32 bit.
root (hd0,0,a)
kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot kernel/unix
module /platform/i86pc/boot_archive

By default after the first CD installation, the OS should boot in 64-bit kernel. Because of this issue, you will not be able to boot in 64-bit. Continue booting in 32-bit , complete the installation and then apply this patch in 32-bit, the system after reboot should boot in 64-bit.

install the Solaris 10 x86 Recommended Patch Cluster.
and then boot in 64 bit mode.
