File system growth

Hi,

Is there any method or scripts to check on the monthly file system growth? For example, would wan to check on the total growth on month November..is it possible?

Thanks.

You could write script that records the df output and then compares that with the values from the previous month. Run this through cron on the 1st of every month.

Yep..dats perfect...

What you can do is

Make an analysis of the important filesytem u want.

Take the capacity(%) field from df output using awk into a variable for each file system.

In the next month u can compare that values with the previous values and u can print the increase r whatever.

Or you could use sar and then plot pretty graphs to keep management happy Smilie
Or if you want even more stats use orca.

you could use sar as suggested but I think that simply putting a df command in your cron and pipe this to a file will work fine for you :-)
