Question Dual Booting with UNIX

Dear All,

I want use Unix (Sun Solaris 10) in my PC, and now I'm using windows, can Unix intalled to My PC and make dual booting like linux??
any one have experienced about this..? please help me..?

Yes, this is supported. Windows will be in one primary partition. You will need some free space for Solaris. The Solaris installation procedure will use the free space to create a second primary partition for itself.

Sorry man, Windows is evileware... it will whant to shove off other non-windows operating sytem
If you have Windows XP, not even patitioning will help. Smilie

Irish_Jimmy, I'm sorry but that is wrong information. You can partition the disk to allow multiple operating systems to be installed. You have to make sure that you install Windows first.

That's because Windows will overwrite the MBR and wipe out any boot loader info that you may have there (haven't tried this, just read on the net somewhere, and that too quite a while back).

True that Windows will overwrite the MBR, but you can recover it with grub. I haven't tried with Solaris, but with Linux (Debian) you boot up from CD, mount the primary partition, go into grub, and rewrite the MBR.
