How About the Power we Supply to Her? :)

That link was great tried a few things they suggested. This may have various reasons, but they all related to some hardware connection it seems. Speaking of that, I was kinda suspicious of the dinky power connection I concocted here. Sun in all its wisdom made a special DC power connector it seems from this manual they have for that esteemed "product" design:

Code:
https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19256-01/806-2073-10/806-2073-10.pdf

That is exactly what we have here:

And I do not even have space to make a ground connection.

Following the + / - signs, I just connected +48V to the + terminal, power return to the - terminal, that's it. Could it be that the curiously hunky DC-2-DC power converter we slide in is testing whether we have a legitimate Sun AC-2-DC power supply connected to it? Could this be why its refusing to admit that it in fact has power supplied to it??

That's what? Are you saying it's working?

My apologies Hicks, no its not working, still the same. Since this is a hardware problem, I was simply saying maybe my issue here is the most basic one, my power connection. What I made is a 2-wire connection to a 3-wire socket. I will try correcting that ny replacing the unique plastic connector Sun used with a good quality, market standard metal sleeved 3-wire connector. See if that makes a difference. I am not touching the mobo jumpers per your suggestion.

OFF_TOPIC

Hey ozsavran,

Thanks for the great post and photo attachments. Do you mind to explain to me what steps you took to upload and attach those files? I cannot do it and want to attach files like you did. Thanks!

Hi,

Before you go re-seating the CPU's I'd look at the memory, I think that would be more productive. Pulling the CPU's is a bit more risky than the memory.

Dear Gull, you read my mind, my thought exactly. As I am too lazy and too shy to try CPUs anyway. I have no spares for anything too. Smilie

Crude but real simple actually. There is a "Go Advanced" button to the right of "Post Quick Reply" Button. That Shows you a Paper Clip button on top of the text entry box here. You click that and select picture files you re-sized with GIMP in your home folder. Pictures which you sent from your phone via gmail app. Then you click "Upload" there in popup that the paperclip button pops for you. After files are uploaded, you close the popup. Position your text cursor where you want the picture to be. Then click the little down arrow right of the paper clip. You select whichever picture you want to be placed, or click "insert all". This puts a series of tags with picture names inside your text, just like HTML. You can cut and paste these short tags to place the pictures wherever you want. It produces visually crude, spartan looks. But this blog script used here is probably one the originator probably wrote all by himself. A do it yourself guy obviously. Its a lean, mean system that I never saw anywhere else yet. But then again, Unix is for programmers not for consumer types.

Hi Ozsavran,

When you do the memory re-seat, you need to make sure that the memory goes back into the appropriate slots - Bank 0 and Bank 1 need to have the same matched pairs in each of the respective slots. So the modules in Slot 0, Bank 0 and Slot 0, Bank 1 should have the same P/N - what I'm really saying is don't mix them up.
