Hi,
We are running SUN sparc 5.8, notice frequent "Page Faults" message from our monitor s/w "ServerVantage" coming but no message display in SUN syslog or messages log. Any ideas why or what to check?

Check your /etc/syslog.conf file - insure it's set up to send the warnings to either syslog or messages files.

As far as the page fault issue, use some of the following to try to get a handle on what is going on. Use the man pages for an explaination of each.

prstat, sar, mpstat, iostat, vmstat

(Note, sar may not be any help until you start monitoring - look at the crontab for sys account and man page for sa1. Caution that it does create rather big files - monitor file space for issues)
