msginfo_msgmnb & IO behavior

Gurus,
On a SUN Fire 150 k with Solaris 8 installed, the (wio ratio) suddenly stepped to reach 90s % of the CPU utilization.

Tracking the changes on the box, we got that only the kernel parameter (msginfo_msgmnb) was increased from its default value to another larger value.

Given that the new value was previously set on similar development environment with no any abnormal symptoms.

So is there an effect when increasing message queue size on the IO behavior of the server ?

Simply increasing the max size of a message queue, no that should not effect anything. But consuming memory will have an effect and if you consume enough memory the effect could be rather great.
