Solaris 10 Sparc. How to change Vendor info of SAN disks reported in "format" command?
Greetings!
After block level migration using an external appliance, the luns are getting reported as DGC-RAID5 and these luns are infact from the new storage. I have a query on changing the device Vendor info from DGC-RAID5 to HP3par in the format o/p only.
I am able to see the mpathadm and luxadm correctly reporting the device Vendor id as shown below.
Multipath definitions are configured ok and is reporting the actual paths.
However, format command reports them as DGC-RAID5 and adds a bit of confusion. Is there a way we can get the "format" command to get it reported correctly?
Thanks in advance!
BR,
Bhaskar

In the format program, does the inquiry command display the vendor?

In format's partition menu, give name command, and label command.
This writes back the current disk label with the unchanged partition information but with the new name.

I have checked the vendor details and it is reporting correctly as the new storage. I tried naming it, however, it is adding the name to the end what is getting displayed. I believe it is a cosmetic issue and may have to live with it unless there is an option to change it.
Ladies & Gents,
Can one of you gurus please show me a very simple "expect" script to change the password in Solaris in a script, please? Nothing fancy, no error checking, no nothing. Just to change the password of a new user, it's all.
Many thanks in advance. U guys have honestly earned my... (1 Reply)
