How to disable remote printer
Hi all,

On Solaris 8.2 I have several printers controled via LPD so they are defined with systemnames. The problem is I can't disable them as I could in Unix V with the disable command.
Is there a way to do this however?

Please post the output of uname -a command.

What error do you get when using the disable command (which is still a valid command as far as I can tell)?

Post status of printer(s) you are attempting to disable.

uname -a gives this :

"SunOS solaris 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4us sparc FJSV,GPUS"

When trying to disable I get this message :

"Warning : oki8 is remote, disable has no meaning"

Here is the result of the lpstat command :

"System for oki8 : 192.9.200.103 (as printer hp895)
oki8 is accepting requests since march 14 08:08 2006
printer oki8 is idle since march 14 08:09 2006. available."

The fact that the printer is enabled is apperently not mentionned?
