All,

I am trying to install the patch 148689-02. However, this patch fails to install due to the non global zone does not have the required patch 147143-17. I have tried to login to the non global zone and install it manually. "patchadd 147143-17" however, this returns a message stating its for the "global zone" only and connot be installed on the non global zone.

What is interesting is that this patch installed fine on my other server and it also patched the non global zone.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can force this install or get it working?

I should also note that I tried to first install the patch 148689-02 from the global zone. That failed and gave me the error that it would not install becase the 147143-17 patch was not installed on the global zone.

I tried to then apply the 147143-17 patch from the global zone and it failed because it said its already installed.

Is there a way to force the install of patch 148689-02 in the global zone?

It sounds like one of these is true:

1. Another patch which supercedes 147143-17 has been installed
I checked for for Solaris 10 1/13:
Solaris 10 Operating System
I cannot find a superceding package. And this package is apparently only for 10 1/13; be sure of your OS version

What OS release do you have? Newer packages may have problems installing on systems they were not meant for.

2. Something is only partially installed pkginfo -p

Try researching packages first, then look to see if there are partials. If none of these is true, you may have a worse problem than just the inability to install a package.

There is also patchdiag and the db patchdiag.xref for earlier versions of solaris. This lets you find patches you are missing.
