Windows 7 Host Cannot ping Solaris 10 DNS on VM
Hello All,

Host - Windows 7 64 BIT
Guest OS - Solaris 10 64 on VMWARE workstation

Problem : I can not ping solaris VM from my host OS. please suggest the solution.

There is a netmask mismatch between the host and the guest for the network 172.168.1.x

Why do you want to change it on both sides ?

Assuming its a local only virtual network, you can use:

You do not tell what IP you are trying to ping though.

There are 2 VM machines I have and my host machine is windows 7.
One VM is solaris 10 and acting as DNS. name - vmutil
another vm is solaris 10 acting as oracle cluster node RAC. name - vmsol
now I want to ping vmutil and vmsol from my host windows 7 machine without intrupting oracle cluster.
vmsol & Windows host machine IPs are listed above.

What have you got the network set to on your two VMs? Private, NAT, or what?
