Right driver for Intel card..
I have OptiPlex machine which has Integrated Intel® I217LM Ethernet LAN 10/100/1000 interface. When I am trying to install Solaris 10U11 during the installation it dint ask for networking configuration. I installed the OS and found that Solaris dont show any interface through ifconfig -a plumb. What driver do I need for this to work?

I ran dladm show-dev and it showed nothing.

I tried a different driver http://rob.com/lancair/2013.12/igb.tar.bz2 replacing the default igb driver through:

add_drv -i '"pciex8086,153a"' igb

But it installed the driver but failed to attach.

have you tried to install/boot live cd of solaris 11.1? maybe the ethernet card will work from there... after that, you can use a solaris 10 zone on solaris 11 if you need access to an older solaris version...

Solaris 11.1 is also missing the driver. I checked it yesterday.
I got this link github.com/joyent/illumos-joyent/tree/master/usr/src/uts/common/io/e1000g
I wonder if this will work if ported to Solaris..

Any idea how to build e1000g driver for Solaris 10?

Solaris 10 as well as Solaris 11 comes with "e1000g" driver. Are you sure that the "e1000g" driver in illumos will work with your network card? Have you tried installing illumos on your machine?

Here's a possible workaround.
The e100g driver in Solaris 11.1 does not recognize the NIC with PCI ID 8086,153a.

If I remember correctly, you can add a new e1000g entry in /etc/driver_aliases and perform a reconfiguration boot.

Hopefully the driver will then bind to the device (check modinfo) and you should be able to plumb it and get onto the network.

Trouble with broadcomm card Wifi driver build

I'm having trouble getting my WIFI card to work. It's Device ID is :0c:00.0 0280: 14e4:4315 (rev 01). My OS is BT5. The card works with Lucid just fine.
