@MadeInGermany.........Yes, you are absolutely right that "probe-ide" should produce output on this machine. We determined from successive posts that there is no scsi and so "probe-scsi" was useless. I uploaded a copy of the manual for the OP's server on Oct 15 and the OP has not replied since so I think he's probably cracked it. For whatever reason another member has resuscitated the thread..

LOL hicksd8, I wish I "cracked" it, at the moment that server is resting somewhere in the server room. I have not had the time to go back to it due to other matters that required more immediate attention. I do appreciate your inputs.

cannot find boot device and won't boot off cdrom
