I realise this is an odd request - but I need advice please..

I have two server - in different geographical locations..
The have 2 local 72gb disks which are mirrored. I need to get storage added to increase both to 300gb in total each and this needs to be mirrored in case of failure. The servers are sun fire v240's which only allow for 4 disks in total..

I have 6k budget. Any ideas? Do i need to buy an array for both servers with the extra disks.. if so any ideas how I do this with only 6k?

any advice appreciated --- I am in a jam...

Call Sun - let them work up two quotes.

There is a 146.8 GB drive that can go into the V240 - swap out the 72GB drives for those and buy two more 146.8 drives - you will come close to the 'required' 300GB - close enough that the client may go for it, especially after you give them the second quote that has the more expensive arrays added on!

(This was assuming that you needed a total of 300GB and THEN you were going to mirror meaning actual space would be 150GB mirrored - if not, and you need 600GB total space which will then be mirrored down to 300GB, well, then only get the one quote from SUN for more expensive arrays - you should still be able to come in under 6K)
