Solaris

Hi,

Installed the gcc compiler off the Solaris 9 Companion CD a while back , but needed to delete it due to disk space issues.
Now that I have sorted out our root disk space I can`t reinstall the compiler.

If I select all the packages off the Development/Languages menu , the install list that follows misses out the gcc packages

Its as if the install thinks the packages exist already , which they don`t.

Any ideas?

How did you perform your delete action?

Would have used "pkgrm".

check if the package did indeed get removed with "pkginfo | grep -i gcc" ... if yes and you're still having issues, check /var/spool/sadm/pkg for any directory that looks like it's related to gcc, rename it/them, then retry the gcc package install ... if that still doesn't work, rename the directories you renamed earlier back to their original names and check for system issues ... good luck!
