daylight savings change

I have a solaris 8 server - and I need to ensure the daylight savings change properly but I dont think its set up correctly:

/usr/sbin/zdump -v -c 2005 $TZ
GB-EIRE Wed Oct 26 12:20:02 2005 UTC = Wed Oct 26 12:20:02 2005 GB isdst=0
GB-EIRE Fri Dec 13 20:45:52 1901 UTC = Fri Dec 13 20:45:52 1901 GB isdst=0
GB-EIRE Sat Dec 14 20:45:52 1901 UTC = Sat Dec 14 20:45:52 1901 GB isdst=0
GB-EIRE Tue Jan 19 03:14:07 2038 UTC = Tue Jan 19 03:14:07 2038 GB isdst=0
GB-EIRE Mon Jan 18 03:14:07 2038 UTC = Mon Jan 18 03:14:07 2038 GB isdst=0

It doesnt look like it will change - how do I correct this?

TZ=GB-Eire
export TZ

It is case sensitive.

And for system wide update, update /etc/default/init. This will not take effect until after the system has been rebooted.

hmnn so TZ should be set to GB-Eire

Currently - its set to just Eire and inthe /etc/default/init file its set as follows:
TZ=Eire

Should this be corrected?
Is the server going to change correctly even though this TZ variable is set incorrectly?

I just tested it on Solaris 8.
TZ=Eire
also works. But look at the output you posted. TZ was set to GB-EIRE and that is wrong. You just need yout TZ set to something that is correct.

Exactly as Perderabo said, by the way the behaviour of the GB, GB-Eire and Eire as TZ should all be the same, and GB and GB-Eire are in fact two copies of the same file.
