How to find and replace a string?
Dear All
I need to find and replace a string in a set of files. I try as :
Code:
#find / -name "*"|xargs grep "Tektra"|grep -v "Tektra GSM BTS"

But it doesn't work. It just finds the string in the files. I need to find and replace it.Can you please let me know how to correct it?

Please use code tags as required by forum rules!

grep will not replace anything; you need e.g. an editor to do that. sed would be a candidate; or awk. What about some sample input and output data? And, why not tell us what the replacement string should be?

sed s/"ValueToChange"/"NewValue"/g /file/location > /new/filename

It is crude but should do the job considering you know what you are looking for and what you want to replace it with.
