I am confused.
You say, serverA=172.21.87.148 and serverB=172.21.36.202,
what is then 172.21.77.101 ?
Where did you run the snoop and where the ping?

Hi MadeInGermany,

I executed the command snoop icmp in Server B - 172,21,87,148

and got the o/p which I pasted and as you replied I once again execute the command snoop icmp in server a and here is the o/p below, but with different o/p this time

Since the o/p is huge I have only pasted one part

Server A#
Code:
 snoop

           ? -> (multicast)  ETHER Type=886F (Unknown), size = 106 bytes

Code:

Hi MadeInGermany,

I have executed the following command as per your instruction
And dint see any of the output, I waited for more than 5 min

Code:
Server A :Goofy
ServerA# ping -s -n 172.21.36.202
PING 172.21.36.202: 56 data bytes
^C
----172.21.36.202 PING Statistics----
116 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

Server B:
ServerB# snoop icmp
Using device /dev/bcme (promiscuous mode)

No output

Please let me know if more information is required

I was able to see the output by communicating Server A --> Server C

Thanks & Regards,
Sanjay

Change the netmask on serverA:
First print
Code:
ifconfig bcme1

then change
Code:
ifconfig bcme1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up

then print and compare
Code:
ifconfig bcme1

Should have been changed from
Code:
 inet 172.21.87.148 netmask ffff0000 broadcast 172.21.255.255

to
Code:
 inet 172.21.87.148 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 172.21.87.255

Does ping work now?
This is a temporary change that will be backed out at next system boot.

Hi MadeIn Germany,

Executed as per your instructions
But there is no difference in the netmask, please find the details below

ServerA#
Code:
 ifconfig bcme1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
@goofy:/ % ifconfig bcme1
bcme1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 3
        inet 172.21.87.148 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 172.21.255.255
        ether 0:16:35:6b:a4:14

But now am able to successfully ping to the Server B
ServerA#
Code:
 ping 172.21.36.202
172.21.36.202 is alive

But am not able to telnet and ft
Code:
p to this server(ServerB)

ServerA# telnet 172.21.36.202
Trying 172.21.36.202...
Connected to 172.21.36.202.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection to 172.21.36.202 closed by foreign host.

ServerA# ftp 172.21.36.202
Connected to 172.21.36.202.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp>

I need this Server A to communicate with Server B completely

As I need to perform some sort of data restoration which is not happening as it is unable to communicate SeverB

Thanks & Regards,
Sanjay

Thanks & Regards,
Sanjay
