Does texteditor have separate mouse properties?

I'm loading a backup harddrive and I can't get the mouse properties to work the same. I prefer the left click to choose the default instead of opening menu, and I have changed the system properties to do this. It works on most everything except texteditor. On the window's menu the left click still chooses default, but within texteditors separate menu's the left click opens the menu. Where is this setting located?

I'm using Solaris 8

I guess you are using CDE, so there may be some difference or missing resource in the CDE configuration, that the text editor gets started with a different environment or arguments.
