Install using a ZFS FLAR on x86

Hi,

Been rattling my brain on this one, trying to install multiple systems using the FLASH
method from a cdrom booted image s10u10, with flar image hosted on a FTP server..

System installs fine with traditional install, and can use the flash procedure using ufs image but not zfs filesystem. It goes through the motions, extracts the flar archive during solaris install then it bombs out installation program at this error :

Code:
mkdir: "/a/var/sadm/launcher": Read-only file system

/ramdisk:a is mounted on / (and is where /a is)

Any thoughts ?

TIA, gt...

This looks like there is nothing mounted under /a on the CDROM therefore it is read-only.

Normally a hard disk filesystem would be mounted on /a in order to restore the filesystem image.

Hi,

Any suggestions on how to get around this, I have attempted this operation in 2 different environment. A HP DL360 and mounted ISO through ILO's virtual cdrom..
Then using a VB vm and have achieved the same error both times...

TIA, gt....

Actually, just researching this.............

https://getupdates.oracle.com/readme/124630-62

Search for "ZFS flash" on this page............

Seems it might be a bug for which there's a patch.

Improvement on the situtation, have the NFS method of FLASH install working in my VirtualBox enviroment.... nfs server is a RH host.. But cannot get the FTP
method to work using same clients..

The flar I am using was created using s10u10 on the same VM as I am flashing...
