Chaps, I need to count number of files in a remote directory from Linux (FreeBSD) as if 10 trace files (log files) been generated within 5min of time. So this is the script then I can setup a monitoring.

we want the count of number of records to be printed on each row.
For Ex:
if there are 5 records on one unique id , the count "5'' should be printed on each record in other column. Please help for this. I am using unix & Cygwin.

let's say an input looks like:

as the title of the thread explains, I am trying to get something like:
1|A=4
2|C=2|B=1|T=1

My variable is something like:
f="/Volumes/VERVE/MOOTON_CALL/01_shots/XX/xx0195/Projects/program/rs0195_v400001.aep"
I use ${f:63:6} to call "rs0195" as characters counted from the left, but it'd be so much easier to count from the right.

I have the requirement that ,i have to write a shell script that job has to wait for a 7 touch files created by another application for 4 hours, if i get all 7 touch files ,i have to send a mail that i jobs are completed, if if it is waiting for more than 4 hours i have to send a mail... As I stated in subject, I need a command to terminate my tcpdump command in a certain time period. (using HP-UX)
I am using below one to terminate when number of captured packages reach 3 limit.
But what if there will no packet come in 5 min for instance?

I have a bash script with a line like this:
python example.py >> log &
But i can't see anything in the log file while python program is running only if the program ends seems to write the log file.
"$ cat log" for example don't show anything until the program ends.

install-solaris invokes the Solaris Install program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.
The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:
For SPARC machines:
128 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
128 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
384 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
For x86 machines:
256 MB
Minimum physical memory for all installation types
256 MB
Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
512 MB
Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation
In some cases, even if the minimum physical memory is present, available virtual memory after system startup can limit the number of fea-
tures available.
