smartmontools ?

Has anyone managed installing smartmontools on (Sparc) Solaris 10?
how to do it?

To my knowledge smartmontools were originally meant for open Solaris 11, not 10. As I understand it, the product analyzes disks using SATA, SCSi, and some other disk controller protocols, and then makes predictions about future failure probability.

Since OpenIndiana (open Solaris 11) and the whole open source thing for Solaris has pretty much died because of the oracle purchase of Sun, I would not hold out any hope for a retrofit of smartmontools for 10.

The open solaris thing has morphed into other open OSes. See:

issue with smartmontools

Hi, I need help!! I am trying to monitoring the temperature and error rate for diffrent storage systems - hard disk, SCSI, RAIDs. For, Hard disk, smartctl works perfectly, but in case of SCSI and RAIDs, it fails. smartctl notify only about the storage systems, health (i.e., OK,etc) but not... (0 Replies)
