date command, loop/recursive

is it possible to use output of one date command as input of another?
I would like to know the date of Monday two weeks ago. so, the idea is that one date command subtracts two weeks, and the other finds the Monday.

Code:
date -d"-2weeks -$(date +%w -dyesterday)days"

Not sure how this behaves on Sundays/Modays.

unfortunately, that doesn't work in Solaris. not without GNU tools installed.
I got another problem now, how to do 'date arithmetic'? Is there any easy way to subtract one week from current day?

edit:
I found this http://unix-simple.blogspot.com/2009...h-in-unix.html
its not simple, but seems to work fine.
