Explanation of script

Hello Guys,

can someone help explain the script below for me? I will really appreciate it.

Code:
vi db_script
#!/bin/sh
echo .cron job run on.`date`> cronjob.txt
df -h >> cronjob.txt
echo welcome to home

It writes the following to the file called cronjob.txt
I added GMT because I do not know your timezone, and I ran this on cycwin - my network connection to my solaris boxes is not available so the output of df -h does not look right
Code:
.cron job run on. Tue Jun 12 21:05:28 GMT 2012
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
C:/cygwin/bin 452G 69G 384G 16% /usr/bin
C:/cygwin/lib 452G 69G 384G 16% /usr/lib
C:/cygwin 452G 69G 384G 16% /
C: 452G 69G 384G 16% /cygdrive/c
D: 14G 12G 1.6G 89% /cygdrive/d

The echo statement makes line 1. > means open a file, and start writing from the beginning, overwriting the existing stuff in the file. The rest of the file comes from the df -h >> command. The >> means append to the file.

cronjob.txt lives in the login directory for the user whose crontab this came from.
