Solaris

Hi Experts,

Can advise on this:

Global zone running on solaris 10, & the local zones on top running on solaris 9, but we need to patch the solaris 9 local zones & also the solaris 10 global zone.

Which should be patched first to avoid any crash in case, first local zones followed by global solaris 10 or vice versa ?


can review my steps correct ?


1) dettach local zoens from global & patch the all solaris 9 local zones first.
2) then after patching perform a normal reboot 7 attach the zones again to global.


3) testing by apps ok ? then proceed.
4) dettach the local all zones again then proceed to patch the global solaris 10.
5) after pathcing, reboot & attacht the local & verify it ?

Hi Fizan,

If you detach the zones you won't be able to patch them, the way to proceed is to check that the global has the latest patches.

Then to patch each of your branded containers as if it was a stand alone machine - check out the following link from Oracle.
