New SUN System

I m planning to have a new sun system to my company , this system is consist of 10 client blae 2500 sun machines, and server with storage and backup library, the point is should i have one server like Sun fire 880 or 890
to serv as nfs. nis, data & Oracle or should i splet it to two servers one for Oracle, and one for the other aplications as Sun 490 by example .

if it was me making the choice --- i'd make a v240 a nis+ server and a v880 the everything else server ...

however, if i had more choices --- i'd make a v240 a nis+ server, a 490 a nfs/data server and a v880 the oracle server ...

i would try to avoid having a nis+ server mingled with the rest of the services for security reasons ...

btw, if you actually meant 2500 clients instead of 10 --- i might suggest a 490 instead for the nis+ server ... pack it with as much RAM and at least 2 CPUs so you don't run out of resources when demand is high ...

thanks for your concern, yes i mean 10 clients, blade 2500 type, so your point of veiw is to splite to two server is better than have only one strong server for all , am i right , can you explain to me why you think so?
too much apretiated.

a single server that houses insecure (NFS) and secure services (NIS) at the same time is begging to have it's secure services broken ... besides, you have 1 point of failure that will be harder/longer to recover from should the "strong server" fail ... splitting the services you're offering to the user community gives you a strong chance that not all of services will be down at the same time ...
