Network Solaris running very slow!!

Hi all,

Solaris is working very slow as login to solaris takes time say after 10 to 15 mins we get the login prompt back after logging in as oracle account/other account.

This causes most Batch run delays(DWHouse jobs) scheduled through cronjobs.

Where should one look for such issues to find out the relevant cause.

Thank You all for your time!

Regards,

a1_win.

Use a CD and boot into single user mode and see what the message logs say.

One of the most common issues that can lead to long login delays is a mismatch in the speed/duplex settings between a Solaris host and a switch/router. Take a look at the following thread.

What mechanism are you using to connect to the system? SSH? If so, you can start another instance on another port in debug mode. It could be an PAM configuration problem causing your delay.

I'd also check to see if you have any obvious bottlenecks on the system. What does 'prstat -a', 'iostat 5 5', 'vmstat 5 5' show?

Cheers,

Keith

Thanks!

Hi woofie/kduffin,

After looking into /var/adm/messages, we got this error...

"NFS Read/write error...which was the cause.."

output of messages file ....

"nfs: [ID 626546 kern.notice] NFS write error on host XYZ: Stale NFS file handle."

The above NFS issue now is resolved by unix admin.

I thank all of you once again for your valuable time and cooperation!

Now I came to know we really have great exeperienced professionals here in this forum to discuss our critical problems with!!

Thanks woofie/kduffin once again!

Shall be in touch!

sincere regards,

a1_win.
