Question Disk Space

I know there are other threads but they have not helped. My server is running low on disk space and I haven't been able to re-allocate. I think my solaris machine is missing tools or the way it was originally setup, may not have the right pathing.

Code:
$ df -k
Filesystem kbytes used avail capacity Mounted on
/dev/md/dsk/d0 1267431 1160461 43599 97% /
/dev/md/dsk/d9 962983 823720 81485 91% /usr
/proc 0 0 0 0% /proc
fd 0 0 0 0% /dev/fd
mnttab 0 0 0 0% /etc/mnttab
/dev/md/dsk/d6 482023 376141 57680 87% /var
swap 198384 24 198360 1% /var/run
swap 219000 20640 198360 10% /tmp
/dev/md/dsk/d12 746311 681404 5203 100% /usr2
$

So I have one at 100% and 2 at over 90%. It hasn't started affecting the server yet. vfstab will not run and I am unable to find other Solaris commands or tools that my server might have to re-allocate the low disk space. I am not sure what we can delete, as far as files or logs. I can check with my main developer on that server, but I wanted to try re-allocation first. Smilie

Thank you for any help!

You don't seem to have any real space to allocate, you should look at your disk requirements - is there any unallocated hard drive capacity?

You could add more disk if you have any - use format to check.

You may be able to clear some files down as well - or compress them.

Regards

Dave

I will see what I can remove or condense. I will check with my developer as well to see if there's any files he can be rid of or move.

Thanks.

I would look for the logs and delete them. I that should help.
to see the biggest offenders use this command
Code:
 du -sh *

do this at root and then drill down from there.

You should read the RTM post in this forum it's the first one that you can see on the front page of the solaris forum - up near the top.

start with command: du -sh *
Find the biggest files from the output and compress them to start with!
Let us know if you have any further difficulty ...

Once you free up some space, you can plan further about managing your disk space requirements.
