Unix learning methods

I have recently completed Solaris 10 System Administration book by Bill Calkins. Now I want to learn more about UNIX. I have tried to research online but there is too much information and I am sort of overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Can anybody give some idea on how to pursue my learning after completing this book?

Thanks,
Saoud

Good that you have completed the book. Install Solaris or any other Unix variant (if you have money, go and buy some UNIX machine may be on eBay). First, start practicing what you have learned. Then, start doing nasty things on the machine. Try to understand the kind of error messages you get, try to fix the issue. You will learn a lot more than you can think in that way. I have seen many people cramming commands and all. I lough at them. What's the use if you do not know why and when to use them?

Break n Fix is what I have followed all the time. Best of luck! Smilie

And this is even easier if you create machines in a virtualisation engine like VirtualBox, you can take a snapshot of a clean install and revert when it gets really messed up.
