CP3260 Solaris 10 HD Format

I have a CP3260 Blade connected to a RTM which houses a Seagate ST9146802SS SAS Hard Drive in a CT900 Chasis.

I wanted to format the Hard Drive before i started installation of Solaris 10 OS.

I performed the following steps

{0} ok boot disk -s
# format
specify disk (enter its number): 0
format> format

at this point is then stated format will take approx 136 minutes, after it went through its cycle for the last 24 hours it has been scrolling through

Error for Command: Write
Sense Key: Media Error
Error Level: retryable

then after it retrys about 10 times it fails and says medium error during write for block 3299/11/224 and this has been repeating with some other data.

Is this standard or is something wrong. What is the normal time to format a 146gb HD. I was told 12-16 hours for a 72GB Hard Drive from one source.

Also if this is an error does anyone have steps on correcting this? should I deactivate the board via my ShMM then reactivate and try to format a different way.

This is my first time dealing with this style of system.
