Reboot causes disks in Resync State

Dear Team,

This time i am facing some new problems which is beyond my thinking. I need some expert advice.

We are having 4 Servers ( 2 nos Sun SPARC Enterprise T5220 & 2 nos of SF e2900 Servers ). Both the T5220 Servers are Termed as Node A and Node B . The same things are followed with E2900 servers.

PROBLEM OCCURED:

-> i have noticed many times whenever i am rebooting (init 6 or reboot ) any node of SF T5220 ,after rebooting the sub-mirrors are going to need maintance state. Once i run metasync command, after 20-25 min all the sub-mirrors are coming to Okay State.

But if am using the command 'init5' and then do the poweron from sc> things are okay means all the sub-mirrors are in okay state, no need maintance state occured

-> At the same time,if i follow the above process with any of the SF e2900 server, there i am not found any need maintance state. It is booting normally and all the sub-mirrors are in okay state in one go.

NOTE:The same applications are running in all the nodes.

My doubt is why this "need maintance" state only arises whenever i reboot any T5220 server. I found it hard to lacate the proper cause to this ???

please help.

raidctl and resync when reboot

I am using raidctl on a v440 disk and noticed it resyncs after every boot, which takes about 30 minutes because of the size of the partition. I am concerned with what happens during the resync if "writes" happen to the disk before it is complete? Any info would be helpful. Thanks (0 Replies)
