Enable Core dump

Our application has lots of subsystems. I want to enable coredump for one of the subsystems.
Currently the ulimit is set to 0 on the Solaris Box.
Inorder to enable core dump for a particular subsystem, I have added to the following to the .profile
coreadm -p core.%f <processId>

However, I can get the PID, only after I start the system. Once I source the .profile after updating the above in it, the change is applicable for all the instances created there after.
BUT the application was started using the old .profile details (not containing the above mentioned command). As a result, the core dump though enabled, will not be reflected.

Please let me know if my understanding is correct and how I can enable coredump for a particular process ( I don't want to enable coredump globally) under the mentioned scenario.

Thanks in Advance.

Check the man page for coreadm - I believe if you add the coreadm command below to the startup script for the process, you can achieve what you are looking for. This command is listed as an example in the coreadm man page.

coreadm -p core.%f.%p $$
