Solaris 11's installer too small
Hi Solaris Lovers,

I wanted to download the newly released Solaris 11 (not express) for Intel architecture

So, I found the below link

Oracle Solaris 11 Downloads

I found the iso image size to be as small as 430mb !!!!
Live media is 821mb

Is this the fully functional Enterprise Solaris 11 ? Is this the one (Text based installer with 420 mb) they are going to ship to potential enterprise customers ? If so, how come they managed to drastically reduce the installer image size from 2.2 gb (solaris 10,9) to 430mb ?

the text install media comes without the desktop environment...

They removed all kind of third pary software like Apache and PostgreSQL. If you need one you can set up your local IPS storage and then install all you need.

No, this is an installation media, not the whole OS.

That's the other way around. Solaris 11 full repository size (assuming the size is relevant) is 5.3 GB.
Look for "Oracle Solaris 11 11/11 Repository Image" in the download page.
