Finally, Solaris 11 released today!

Solaris 11 has finally been released. I have googled a bit, but can not find info how to upgrade via package manager. Anyone knows if it is possible, and how to do it?

I dont want to wipe my Solaris 11 Express installation and reinstall S11.

Ok, here is how you update from S11Exp.

Ok, I get error messages when I try to upgrade S11E. I have installed IPS.HOMEUNIX.COM media packages (VLC, etc). Anyone know how to fix these problems?

Code:
# pkg update --accept

        pkg://solaris/data/iso-codes@3.21,5.11-0.175.0.0.0.0.0:20110927T081919Z

These packages may not be installed together. Any non-conflicting set may
be, or the packages must be corrected before they can be installed.

What the package system is trying to tell you is that it can't install your ips.homeunix.com packages because they want the 'group' on directories/files to be different than the packages found in the base system.

You need to either remove the ips.homeunix.com packages, or fix them so that they don't conflict.

For now, I would suggest removing the packages so you can upgrade.

After upgrading, I would then fix the packages and reinstall them.

"...After upgrading, I would then fix the packages and reinstall them...."

How would I do this? Fix packages? Edit them?

Until then, I will reboot into an earlier GRUB entry, where I have not installed those packages, and upgrade to Solaris 11. I really love the BE in GRUB! Smilie
