Solaris 8: root can't ssh to other systems.
Hi, The issue is that root can not ssh to a Solaris 8 server:

root# grep PermitRootLogin /etc/ssh2/sshd2_config
PermitRootLogin yes
# PermitRootLogin nopwd

root# grep CONSOLE /etc/default/login
# If CONSOLE is set, root can only login on that device.
# CONSOLE=/dev/console

Is it ssh that's giving you permission denied or the local system? What do you see when you ssh -v ?

I've seen a similar problem. In our case it was a cipher problem, we needed to update OpenSSL on the Sol 8 to the same version as the Sol 10.

Would you mind pasting an ssh -vvv output?

Also, check to make sure that the hostname / IP is not in authorized_keys on the other servers. You may need to delete an old key and add a new one. Does the Solaris 8 server have an authorized_keys file under /.ssh or /root/.ssh - check the keys.
