I tried running the following
install-solaris & suninstall & install-setup

install-solaris & suninstall both took me through all of the Solaris install options, but at the end when I hit install I get the following message

Code:
ERROR: the disk you inserted is not a Solaris OS cd/DVD

:-(

maybe you can try to change the label to EFI and then back to SMI. after that, just do a:
Code:
init 0
boot cdrom

to boot again.

I am currently installing another V245 that has a DVD with Sol 10 (10/09) once this has finished I will un-configure the disk and see if it will run in this machine at least that way I can get an OS on the machine and upgrade the OBP.

I really can't understand why this is happening though we have installed many of these machines in the past and have never come across this. The Current OBP level is 4.25.10.

I have seen a few posts about people having problems booting V245’s from a Flash drive or via Jumpstart and them being instructed to change some settings, could it be that I need to change something here to make it look to the DVD for the install as opposed to Jumpstart or a Flash drive? That maybe a stupid question, so if so apologies I’m a little green on this one.

So far though I have tried the following and get the same resuklts every time
3 known working DVD’s
4 different 73GB SAS disks that we formatted in a V445 and then also followed the labelling procedure as suggested.
I have 3 copies of Solaris 10 (10/09) and have tried all of them

Any suggestions gratefully received

When I see
Code:
Cannot assemble drivers for root /pci@1e,600000/pci@0/pci@1/pci@0/ide@1f/cdrom@b

I suspect a brand x dvd drive. Could that be the problem?

I though about that but dismissed it as OP claimed to be able to at least boot a DVD to configure the installation for certain versions of Solaris 10.

Wallrunn3r, what are the values of the following boot configuration commands?
Code:
ok> show-disks
ok> printenv
