rsh -n flag not working between sme hosts

Hi there

I have a strange scenario whereby I am trying to use the -n flag (or < /dev/null) to the input of between two particular hosts which doesn't seem to work, but is fine if between two other hosts

First test (between myhost 1 and 2) -n doesn't return output

Code:
test@myhost1% rsh myhost2 "uname -a"
SunOS myhost2 5.10 Generic_141445-09 i86pc i386 i86pc

test@myhost1% rsh -n myhost2 "uname -a"
test@myhost1%

Second test (between myhost 1 and 3) -n DOES return output as expected

Code:
test@myhost1% rsh myhost3 "uname -a"
SunOS myhost3 5.10 Generic_141445-09 i86pc i386 i86pc

test@myhost1% rsh -n myhost3 "uname -a"
SunOS myhost3 5.10 Generic_141445-09 i86pc i386 i86pc

This happens regardless of the shell I use to invoke the command (bash/ksh/csh all the same result)

this only seems to be happening between these two hosts,

does anybody have any ideas?

The only thing that occurs to me would be to check your shell on myhost2. Try changing your shell (on myhosts2) to another shell and see if it still happens. The shell's startup script may be doing something wierd.
