How to change default log location of SMF registered processes.
Hi All,

I am trying to change default log location ( var/logs/svc/<component>) of each and evry SMF registered processes and append to particular file (/opt/smf.log) .

Please help .................

I think, the location is hardcoded into svc.startd and therefore you can't change it.

Actually the location is /var/svc/log/component.

Here you mean to say that, svc.startd will have log location of each and every registered component and changing location will reflect the same.

You cannot change the location, it is coded into svc.startd and not configurable. All Logfiles will be created in the same location. The name of the logfile is derived from the service fmri.

As per your state i was trying to modify svc.stard but due to MSB executable file i flunked to do that Smilie
Now are you saying that service FMRI is only hope for changing log location ??

Again, you cannot change the location.

By renaming the FMRI (svccfg delete + svccfg import) you can only influence the name of the file, not it's location. And changing a solaris service in any way can mess up things greatly. Don't do it.

I found that there was a SMF log file: /var/svc/log/milestone-multi-user-server:default.log.0 which occupied around 19G bytes. Please help me how to purge this massive file.
