No Console Output

Hey everyone

I have a sparc enterprise T2000 I'm trying to install solaris 10 on. The only way I can connect to it is the SER MGT console, but I'm not getting anything to display (in Hyper terminal, or PUTTY) when I boot it. Upon googleing, all I get back is "No output may have been generated. Pressing enter should generate the prompt"

Ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

Lets start with the most basic stuff. Remember the terminal setting are the standard 9800bps, 8 databits, 1 stop bit, and NO parity. Set these paramters into your terminal emulation application and boot the T2000 again.

This time I would suggest walking away from the system for 30 minutes. The reason for this is that the last admin might have left the diagnostics on 'full' and this would make the system run every system check during boot. When you get back to your monitor, hit enter a few times if not output has been generated.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, those are the settings I've been using, and we left it booting up for roughly an hour I think...

What's the next think to test? At the moment, we reckon it might be the cable, so we're working on that. What else could it be?

Do you even get an "ok" prompt from the hyperterm ? Try sending some terminal-break characters and see if that makes a difference. Is there any output from ALOM on serial ?

There is nothing shown. No prompts, no ALOM anything.

Thanks for the help everyone, but after finding the supplied cable, it's working fine.
