Position of Login Window...

Greetings! I'm new here and excited to get aquianted with this site! Seems like a good source of knowledge!

Anyways, my first problem de'jour deals with the following....

We have dual monitors(top/bottom) for our system. The problem is that the solaris login window is split between the top and bottom screens.

I would assume that I could change the position of the login window in the dtlogin file? However, for the life of me, I can't figure out the calls/parameters that need to be set and/or if it's even possible to do this in the dtlogin file or anywhere else for that matter?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I have dual monitors on my Ultra24. I use nVidia utilities (Launch -> Applications -> Utilities -> NVIDIA X Server Settings ) to change resolution, size, placement, etc.

What system are you using? Also, are you running Solaris 10?

Is your system up-to-date with patches? I know the fix for that problem went into Solaris 8 probably almost 6 or 7 years ago now.

I'm fairly certain it's up-to-date...The sysadmin just left us so I can't say for certain, but it's a government machine so i asume he kept up with most of that stuff by regulation. I wonder if there's a seting or something that I can mess with?

The X11 software gets started in /etc/rc2.d or /etc/rc3.d when the system boots. Check there for the startup scripts and I'm sure you will find which executables get started. From there, you should be able to determine a configuration file and view that for possible settings. I would suggest checking the xorg.conf man page also.

Sorry I'm being kinda cryptic but I don't have Solaris 9 systems any more and the X11 software isn't something you change everyday, it's more of a set it up once and your done.

Good Hunting!
